06_ Falluminum 2010

Our second visit to the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds in Hiawassee, GA for the Airstream Rally known as Falluminum could not have been nicer!  The weather was in the cool 40s at night and 70s during the day.  Our campsite #85 (of Area #1) was right on the water of Lake Chatuge with lovely mountain views.  Most Airstreamers were in Section A of Area #2.

Arriving Friday night we set up camp in the back of the van under a full moon.  Saturday morning we shared breakfast at the pavillion and trailer tours began at noon.  By 3p we had seen them all, talked with everyone and had time for a nap before dinner.

If you don't like to cook or appreciate great food - then this is not the event for you!  The surprise hit of breakfast was fresh donuts made with Grands biscuits (thanks to Diane) halved with a hole and fried in oil.  While they were still warm we sprinkled them with powdered/ granular sugar - yum-o!  Can't forget the dutch oven cooks with the french toast and peaches (thanks to Jim R.) - amazing!  Oh yea and the monkey bread, croissants and brie, fruit salad ... well you get the idea.  At dinner there were chilis, salads, casseroles, and a whole table devoted to desserts.  BYOB and a cafeteria tray would do nicely:-)

This was Reagan's first visit and he enjoyed everything from the ground up.  He did very well with people, kids, and other dogs with a bit of leadership.  Bring your own grate for the fire and next time I WILL remember the syrup for the pancakes.  Let's join in for Springstream next year - it's not too early to reserve a site!

For anyone who reads 'trailer' and has 70s flashbacks or says, 'ewwww' - you may want to Google 'Airstream Interiors' and choose images to see what imaginations have been up to.
